Life

Basil Krasivsky and Parthenius Krasivsky were two Orthodox priests who were put to death in 1919 during the persecution of the Church that followed the Bolshevik Revolution. They are venerated as New Hieromartyrs and are commemorated on September 3. Beyond their names, priestly rank, and the year of their death, the surviving record preserves little biographical detail about them.

Their shared surname suggests that the two priests may have been related, though the sources do not specify the nature of any kinship. They are numbered among the great body of clergy of the Russian Orthodox Church who suffered death in the years of civil war and anti-religious campaigns that began after 1917.

The Local Council of the Russian Orthodox Church, by a resolution of 1918, established an annual memorial for the confessors and martyrs who died in those years of persecution. Basil and Parthenius are counted within the Synaxis of New Martyrs and Confessors of Russia, the collective commemoration of the clergy, monastics, and laity who were killed for their faith under the Soviet regime.
