Faciolus of Poitiers

Faciolus of Poitiers was a tenth-century monk of the Abbey of Saint Cyprian (l'abbaye Saint-Cyprien) at Poitiers, in west-central Gaul. The surviving record of his life is slight: he is remembered chiefly as a member of that monastic community who reposed around the year 950. He is numbered among the pre-schism Western saints venerated in the Orthodox tradition, and is commemorated on September 7.

Faciolus lived during the period of monastic renewal that marked tenth-century Gaul, and the sources that note him connect him with this wider revival of communal monastic life. Beyond his membership of the Abbey of Saint Cyprian and his reputation for holiness, no detailed account of his deeds, origins, or death has been preserved.
